All Drums are RCI custom Pattern C (two color swirl) in Amber Starlite™ and Solid White Starlite™

Here is what Matt has to say about his RCI drums - well worth the read!

"After borrowing the Red/Clear Vertical Swirl Kit from RCI for a recent
tour, I found it tough returning to my much loved 70’s Amber Vistalite
that I have been playing for the past 10 years!

The old Ludwig has seen its fair share of gigs and studios and I have always been fond of the look, in fact it is fair to say it has become a bit of a icon for the band. However it was time for a change so I opted for interesting Orange and White ‘swirly’ custom kit from RCI.

I must confess when I first unboxed these brash beauties I wasn’t sure about my colour combination. However, after getting the kit on stage they looked fantastic. Comments like…”Matt, why have you stuck white gaffer all over your kit” ensued!

The build quality on these things is in a total different ballpark to the Ludwigs, for a start they are round! Truly round! The seams although visible have no effect on the bearing edges what so ever making the things incredibly easy to tune compared to the Ludwigs. Where the pattern seams meet also appear smooth a pleasure to touch. This creates a beautifully crafted shell.

Keeping to tradition the toms were shipped with the RCI chrome lugs. These have a small RCI logo and are reminiscent of the Classic Ludwig fittings. The sound of the toms are out of this world, total beefiness but with decent attack and definition, I do a lot of riding on the 18inch floor tom and you can  indisputably hear the individual stokes without losing the depth and warmth.

To wrap this up, these things have a lovely hand made beauty to them, something hard to find with acrylic kits, they sound fantastic and look exactly how you want. Thanks to everyone at RCI for being so on the case, it’s nice to find a company that really goes out of the way to help fellow musicians".
